This class is tailored for both advanced and beginner/intermediate students, offering a deep dive into Bunjin and Morimono styles of Ikebana.
For advanced students, we will explore Bunjin Theory, a contemporary form of Ikebana heavily influenced by Chinese painters. This style embraces an asymmetrical and free-flowing approach, focusing on personal expression and the natural beauty of materials, rather than rigid structure.
For beginner and intermediate students, we will focus on Morimono, a still-life arrangement set on a black or lacquered board. Morimono falls within the Bunjin category and is characterised by its elegant, minimalist display of natural objects, combining flowers and fruits in a harmonious way.
You will also engage in practical work to utilise the knowledge gained, developing a deeper understanding of both styles and how to apply them to your own creations.
Half day classes are £30. You will also need to purchase the flowers separately which can cost anything up to £20 extra.
IMPORTANT INFORMATION:
As the discipline of Ikebana follows a strict curriculum, if you are new to Ikebana, you will start at the beginning of the curriculum for any class you attend. You can find the curriculum here.
