All-day: Tall pots - Heika and Hana Isho for beginners

  • Harbridge, Court Barn Lane Chichester, England, PO20 United Kingdom (map)

This class introduces the fundamental techniques of Hana Isho and Heika, focusing on arrangements in tall pots.

Hana Isho is a simple yet elegant style that consists of two lines and two materials, making it an excellent starting point for beginners.

Heika is a classic Ikebana style designed specifically for tall containers, with three distinct methods:

Upright Heika – Strong vertical lines create a bold and balanced composition.

Slanting Heika – A gentle angle introduces natural movement and flow.

Cascading Heika – Flowers and foliage spill gracefully over the edge, creating a dynamic and captivating effect.

In this session, you will gain an understanding of these foundational styles and learn how to apply them in your own arrangements, developing confidence in working with tall pots.

All day classes are £50. You will also need to purchase the flowers separately which can cost anything up to £20 extra.

IMPORTANT INFORMATION:

As the discipline of Ikebana follows a strict curriculum, if you are new to Ikebana, you will start at the beginning of the curriculum for any class you attend. You can find the curriculum here.
