Advanced Hana Isho, Rimpa for Senior members
This class is designed for advanced students looking to refine their skills in Hana Isho and explore the artistic depth of Rimpa.
Advanced Hana Isho introduces the One Row and Circular styles, incorporating a third line and material to add depth and complexity. Senior students will also study Radial and One Row designs, focusing on precise placement to highlight the natural shape of each flower. These techniques enhance balance and harmony, furthering your understanding of this traditional art form.
Rimpa, unlike traditional ikebana, is not a flower arrangement but a recreation of classical Japanese paintings using plant materials. Inspired by the works of Rimpa artists, this style embraces vibrant colours, layering techniques, and seasonal themes. It also incorporates elements of wabi-sabi, celebrating the beauty of imperfection. In this class, you will explore the materials and methods used in Rimpa compositions, learning how to translate the essence of a painting into a three-dimensional floral expression.
All day classes are £50. You will also need to purchase the flowers separately which can cost anything up to £20 extra.
IMPORTANT INFORMATION:
As the discipline of Ikebana follows a strict curriculum, if you are new to Ikebana, you will start at the beginning of the curriculum for any class you attend. You can find the curriculum here.
